CAMILLA: World Book Day

Duchess of Cornwall backs charity book day

Camilla, HRH the Duchess of Cornwall has supported the charity World Book Day sharing her love of books…

World Book Day is celebrated in the UK on March 1 whilst it is celebrated globally on April 23 and draws attention to the cultural importance of books and authors, as well as supporting the educational value of reading for young people.

Describing reading as fun and exciting, HRH Camilla said she was lucky to have a father who loved reading to her when she was young and that she now enjoys continuing that tradition with her own children and grandchildren.

Speaking at the Southbank Centre in London she said: "I believe passionately in encouraging a love of reading in young people of all ages.

"It is a true voyage of discovery that broadens and stimulates our minds."

World Book Day is supported by a number of charities and international orgs.

World Book Day is a registered charity in the UK sponsored mainly by publishers and other organisations, including participating booksellers who fund book token redemptions.
